Are you ready to take your first bold step into the world of social enterprise?

This September, we’re launching the new Level 2 Award in Starting a Social Enterprise; a nationally recognised qualification developed in partnership between Junction Point CIC and Durham University. If you’ve got an idea for positive change and want to turn it into something real, this is your moment.

Who is the Social Enterprise Qualification for?

This course is designed for early-stage changemakers — people with ideas, energy and purpose, but who might be looking for clarity, structure, or support to move forward.

You don’t need to be trading yet. You don’t need to have everything figured out. What matters most is your commitment to making a difference.

What will you learn?

Over five interactive units, this social enterprise qualification will help you build a strong foundation for your idea. You’ll learn:

  • What makes a social enterprise different — and why that matters

  • How to build a business model that reflects your values and mission

  • How to plan for real social impact

  • How to manage finances, funding and long-term sustainability

  • How to choose the right legal structure and set up your organisation

This is practical, applied learning — not theory for theory’s sake. You’ll finish the course with a live action plan, a detailed model for your idea, and the confidence to take your next step.

How does the course work?

This is a Level 2 qualification, developed with over 40 social entrepreneurs, 6 industry experts and Durham University Academics!

You’ll experience a flexible, blended learning format designed to work around your life with:

  • In-person workshops
  • Self-guided workbooks

  • Live online workshops

  • Expert insights through our exclusive podcast

  • Peer learning and discussion

  • Portfolio-based assessment (no exams)

This qualification runs part time over six months. Of the 120 hours of learning,  50% is taught and 50% if self-guided.
